GENERAL PEST CONTROL

GENERAL PEST CONTROL

ABOUT

Many cockroaches enter our homes and buildings from outside, through sewer openings or by hitchhiking in furniture, boxes, electronic equipment and other items brought into the home. Each cockroach species is different and therefore the cause for each infestation is different. Here are some facts about the common cockroaches we usually find on our general pest control excursions-

Indian cockroaches: They prefer wet, cool habitats, but they live outside, usually only entering buildings through drains and foundations.

Turkestan cockroaches: They are primarily an outdoor species, but males are strongly attracted to light during the night, so they find their way indoors.

Brown banded cockroaches: These prefer warm, dry places and live and nest indoors, often in higher locations, such as in ceilings and picture frames; they are usually brought into homes or buildings through moving boxes or used furniture.

PROBLEMS CREATED BY THEM

They feed on human and pet food and can leave an offensive odour.
They can passively transport pathogenic microbes on their body surfaces, particularly in environments such as hospitals.
About 60% of asthma patients are also sensitive to cockroach allergens.
Cockroaches can live for a few days or up to a month without food.

Therefore, pest control is essential to eliminate these disease causing insects.

TREATMENT FOR GENERAL PEST CONTROL

1. Many remedies have been tried in the search for control of the major pest species of cockroaches, which are resilient and fast-breeding.
2. Household chemicals like sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) have been often suggested, without scientific evidence supporting their efficiency.
3. Baits with egg killers are also quite effective at reducing the cockroach population.
4. Alternatively, insecticides containing deltamethrin or pyrethrin are very effective.
5. In cases of large infestations getting general pest control services is the best option

COCKROACH SOLUTION

Explain to the client, the procedure of the treatment that is conducted in his/ her place
A professional should begin a treatment with preventive measures as mentioned below:
Eliminating as many sources of food as possible is very important; also because, on starvation the cockroaches become more susceptible to baits.
There are two types of Chemical Practices for Cockroach Control: Gel Baiting (Passive Treatment) and Spraying(Flush Out Treatment)

PROCEDURE

Sprays have the advantage that they act much faster than gels and can provide effective and economical control in less-sensitive areas.
In high infestation areas it is suggested to go for a flush out treatment.

WHERE TO APPLY?

Residual insecticides are usually applied when the area to be treated is large and where application of bait gel is not feasible or would not be effective.

HOW TO APPLY?

Spray the emulsion approximately at the rate of 50 ml per square meter of the infested area.
Residual spray formulations to be used for Residential Purpose should be odourless.
Use a jet spray or cone nozzle to reach the cracks and crevices and a flat fan spray to cover surface areas. e. Dilution of chemicals to be done in following quantities for respective chemicals:
